Young Ran Chang (Smith)
LOKA Howard County (LOKA-HC) President
My name is Young Ran Chang (Smith), LOKA Howard County (LOKA-HC) President. Welcome to the Howard County Home Page. The League of Korean Americans, a nonprofit and non-political corporation, promotes civic engagement, education, and leadership that encourages Korean Americans to partake in all facets of American life. It serves as a helping hand for the Korean American community in Maryland.
Since 1997, LoKA-MD has served as a community outreach organization for the Korean American community in Maryland, working primarily in Montgomery County. Over the years, LoKA-MD has developed strong ties with the Montgomery County Government and other organizations in the area. We have promoted civic engagement, education, and leadership for Korean American high school students through our summer internships, mentoring programs, and workshops. Working with the growing Korean American population in Howard County, LoKA-MD established a new chapter in this jurisdiction in December 2014 to build upon the successes of our operation in Montgomery County that has encouraged and engaged Korean American high school students to partake in all facets of American life.
We have accomplished many things over the years which I am proud to present are as follows:
- Voter registration
- Enhanced public safety
- Improvement in seniors’ lives
- Greater consumer protection
- Development of citizen-government relationships
As the first President of the Howard County Chapter of LoKA-MD, LOKA and I would like to thank you for your continued interest, support, and time. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 443-956-9171.
